Issa Bagayogo, Psychiatrist in Athens, Georgia

The Olive Space is headed by Dr. Issa P. Bagayogo, MD PHD. Dr. Bagayogo received his training in psychiatry at the renowned Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai-Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City.  Specifically, he specializes in the pharmacological management of psychiatric disorders and addiction issues, using the latest evidence and consensus-based approaches. 

He is a proud member of several organizations that advocate for the advancement of mental health such as The American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.  As a Global Mental Health specialist, he has participated in international training and consulting work to promote mental health and reduce stigma. 

Dr. Bagayogo is also a trained scientist, having received his PHD in neuroscience at Rutgers University in addition to his MD.  This specialized training provides him with a unique understanding of the biology of the brain, guides his scientific curiosity and directs his approach to medical care. 

He has multiple scientific publications and has given numerous presentations.  He is a former research fellow of the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and a former member of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN).
